I'II Ensure A Gender-Balanced Political Space In Nigeria, Says APC Deputy National Youth Leader Aspirant

A female aspirant for the position of Deputy National Youth Leader in the forthcoming National Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Miss Olujide Folashade has disclosed her resolve to work towards ensuring a gender-balanced political space in the country when elected.

She also made known her readiness to implement the provisions of the "Not Too Young To Rule Law."

Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, the leading female aspirant pledged to assist young women who are interested in politics to achieve their goals.

Declaring her resolve to fully support the National Youth Leader and the NWC in General in advocating for equal political participation for both male and female in the country, Olujide said she would engage people the more in politics and also call for greater inclusion of women in governance.

"Today’s generation of young people is the largest in the world has ever known. Half of the global population is under 30, and yet 73% of countries restrict young people from running for political office, even though they can vote.

‘’In Nigeria today, campaigns are underway to promote the rights of young people running for public office by seeking to lower the legal age of candidacy, and bring it into line with the age at which you can vote.

"I believe that young people deserve the same rights to run for political  office and which age discrimination is a hindrance to full participation in Nigeria democracy," she said.

She commended the NotTooYoungtoRun campaigners for embarking on a mission to address age discrimination in the political aspiration of young people which serves as inspiration for the global campaign.

She then promised to promote APC youths for elective political positions in Nigeria.
