Engr. Adelere Oriolowo, a former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water and Rural Infrastructure in Osun state, has formally declared his intention to contest the governorship position of the state.

The Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress while addressing scores of party supporters in Osogbo on Tuesday promised to reinforce and enhance the six integral action plan of the incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

The current Project Coordinator, Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP 11) in the state said he would pursue this action plan with greater commitment and passion stressing that he would use his experience in the public service to reform the state.

Disclosing he is a technocrat, Oriolowo assured civil servants in the state of regular payment of their salaries if elected governor at the poll saying that “as a technocrat myself, you can be too sure I will reposition the public service as the engine room of governance.

“We will run agric-based economy to make food available for all our people. I am a big time farmer, in spite of my public service records as a technocrat. For those who do not know, Oriolowo is into mechanised farming. I have over 500 hectares of farms located across the state.

“I have served the people of this state as a senior technocrat in Agric, water and rural infrastructure fields since the state was created. I retired as Permanent Secretary. I have served as Project Coordinator Osun RAMP, a world Bank and French Assisted Project and led RAMP to open up over 400km of rural access roads since 2017.

“We shall garnish this with focus on Human Capital Development to make life better and more meaningful to our people," he averred.

He promised to ensure that the people of the state enjoy quality education and qualitative health care in secured environments.

Speaking also, the chairman of the party, Prince Gboyega Famoodun, commended the aspirant for his movement from public service into politics and wished him well in his political ambition.
